TORONTO, May 15 /CNW/ - Canadian Scooter Corp. announced today it has been appointed the exclusive Canadian distributor of Aprilia, the Italian manufacturer of renowned and race-inspired motorbikes. Aprilia joins Canadian Scooter Corp.'s already venerable collection of scooters and motorcycles, which includes the Italian icon Vespa. Aprilia is a sleek street fighter with racing in its blood, bringing all of the advanced design and uncompromising performance of sport bikes off the pro track and into the hands of consumers. Aprilia motorcycles and scooters share the most up-to-date technology, the highest-quality components, and the most innovative modifications that ensure the "total ridability" for which Aprilia is known.

"We are thrilled to add Aprilia to our line-up," says Morey Chaplick, president of Canadian Scooter Corp. "An Aprilia bike is in a class of its own - the perfect synergy of style and substance, cutting-edge function and user - friendly form."

Aprilia will make its Canadian debut by mid-summer at authorized Aprilia dealers across the country.

"All over the world, the name Aprilia is synonymous with on- and off-road two-wheel adventure," says Paolo Timoni, President & CEO of Piaggio Group Americas. "Partnering with Canadian Scooter Corp. means we can now bring that emotion-packed ride to Canadian motorbike enthusiasts."

From the SR50 Ditech sports scooter to the Tuono 1000R motorcycle, there is a machine for everyone who seeks an unrivalled riding experience.

The Tuono 1000R superbike embodies Aprilia's genius and technical know - how accumulated through victory after victory in motorcycle racing. Improved technical specs - including a redesigned chassis, new exhaust system with twin
silencers and three-way catalytic converter, and fine tuning of the frame, fork and suspension - make the Tuono the most sought after of all naked twins.

The Tuono will have an MSRP of $17,995.

From shorter races to punishing endurance trials, the RSV 1000R twin - cylinder supersport has proven to the world it can outperform any bike on the circuit. Aggressive yet elegant, the better-than-ever 2007 model features the
latest-generation V60 magnesium engine that delivers 143 HP and superlative handling thanks to the new Ohlins fork. The RSV 1000R Factory has further design enhancements that truly set it apart from all other supersports. And with MSRPs of $18,995 and $23,995 respectively, these bikes provide the best motorcycle engineering in the world at a cost of ownership far lower than many other premium brands.

The SR50 Ditech remains the undisputed leader in sports scooters, thanks to continuous upgrades in technology ever since its introduction in 1992. The latest model, with an MSRP of $3,995, asserts even better performance, reduced fuel consumption and greater reliability. The Mojito 150 is powered by a sporty yet reliable Aprilia engine and offers an excellent riding experience.

Inspired by the timeless design of American automobiles of the 1950s, the Mojito 150 will have an MSRP of $4,995.

Founded in 1962, Aprilia has been at the forefront of sport-bike engineering for over 40 years and boasts 26 motorcycling world championship titles under its belt. Aprilia's integration with Piaggio in 2004 led to the creation of the biggest two-wheeler manufacturer in Europe and one of the world's leading names in the sector, with 1.5 billion Euro in sales, an annual production capacity of over 610,000 vehicles, and presence in 50 countries.

The Toronto-based Canadian Scooter Corp. is the exclusive importer and distributor of new Vespa, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Aprilia motor scooters and motorcycles in Canada. For more information and dealer inquiries, visit www.vespacanada.com
